Description


IceCube bootcamp on basic software and analysis techniques. Bootcamp runs from June 5-9. There is no pre-bootcamp this year.
Housing Info: Register for 'Ice Cube Boot Camp' at this link to reserve your space in University dorms. The cost is $96 per person for the whole week.

VirtualBox Installation: This year's presentations will be based on a VirtualBox machine with the latest IceCube trunk software. The steps for installing it are:
(1) Download and install free VirtualBox software from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. You'll need both the platform packages and the extensions pack which is a separate download below the platform packages.
(2) Download the virtual box machine
http://convey.icecube.wisc.edu/data/user/dschultz/bootcamp2017_v3.ova 
(standard icecube user and password)
(3) Open VirtualBox
(4) Click on bootcamp2017.ova after the download finishes. This should open an import prompt in VirtualBox. Click 'import' to load in the bootcamp2017 machine.
(5) When import finishes you should see 'bootcamp2017' listed in the VirtualBox application. Click it to power it on and sign in with username 'bootcamp' and password 'bootcamp'
(6) Start IceCube software by running 'source icecube/build/env-shell.sh' from a Terminal window
